Dead Paintings

The first of these paintings, The Darkest Hour, was meant to consider the blood and bodies horribly wasted in the Holocaust. The motif continues pretty obviously from there, through Dead, which was an attempt to create a "dead canvas". The two charcoal drawings were initially exploratory as I was considering doing larger paintings of each, but as time went by I began to appreciate the aesthetic that was captured with the charcoal.
