Zodiac

The idea behind these paintings is that nothing is static, everything changes, and is on a continuum. The element of the star, which I have used in my paintings for nearly 20 years, for me was the natural element to illustrate this concept. Every three paintings are a mini-series within the whole. The first three, comprised of Aries, Taurus, and Gemini, set up the framework for the way these paintings work. Aries is the first cardinal sign, where the star enters abruptly into the new space from the left. Taurus, the first fixed sign, fully morphs and owns the space. Gemini, a mutable sign, brings change from one thing to the next, thus having two stars.
